Ah, sleep, it can be so elusive at times, can’t it? For most of my life, this was the area of my health that I struggled with the most. Whether it be insomnia, waking up and not being able to fall back asleep, or not getting deep enough sleep, I’ve been through it all.
And that’s why this topic is near and dear to my heart.
I’ve tried everything under the sun to get good rest, included taking herbs, trying to tire myself out with strenuous exercise, to guided meditations before bed.
Ultimately, what I discovered is that while these things can help, it’s more important to address the root cause of what’s keeping us up at night.
Insufficient or poor quality sleep can affect literally every area of your life.
From your energy levels and mood, to your immune, digestive, and reproductive functions, to your relationships and performance at work.
It’s no laughing matter when you can’t get a good night’s rest.
Trouble falling asleep is often tied back to an imbalance in vata dosha.
Click here for an introduction to Ayurveda to understand what that means.
Waking up in the early morning, generally between 2 – 4am, can also be attributed to imbalance pitta dosha.
For more specific guidance on improving your sleep with Ayurveda, I created a special report on the topic. Click here to check it out.
