Banana-Almond Protein Shake

Whether you’re looking to decrease body fat, increase lean muscle, or both, it’s important to include a sufficient amount of lean protein in your diet.

One of my favorite ways to do this is by having a protein shake for either a quick breakfast or as a snack, and studies show that whey protein specifically is effective in improving body composition, unlike some other proteins such as soy.

This is an especially good option if you are looking to cut back on meat, or are vegetarian, and the method used to produce whey protein concentrate removes the lactose during the process – great news for those who are lactose intolerant.

It’s important however to chose a high-quality whey protein powder because you don’t want one that was derived from cows treated with hormones or antibiotics. I recommend Whey Pure, as not only is it derived from healthy New Zealand cows, but the controlled-temperature filtration process allows it to retain a high amount of immunoglobulins, which serve to improve the immune system as well as gut health.

Today, I’d like to share one of my favorite shake recipes with you – not only is it full of high-quality protein, but you also get the added benefits from almonds, which can help prevent heart disease, aid in weight loss and regulation of blood-sugar, and even support brain function and bone health.

Cinnamon is an excellent digestive spice which has been shown to help regulate blood sugar levels, and bananas have also been shown to help regulate blood sugar levels!

So when you’re looking for something healthy that’s simple to make and full of nutrition, whip out your blender and enjoy the recipe below!
