How Your Mind Affects Your Body

Does it ever feel like you’re doing the right things – eating healthy, exercising, yet you still can’t seem to lose weight?

I know how frustrating this can be. Maybe you think you’re just not meant to be at your ideal weight.

Or, maybe you feel like if you don’t eat a super clean, low-calorie, gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy-free, low-fat, high-fiber, paleo, raw, or other (insert adjective here) diet, you are doomed to always be 10 pounds heavier than you’d like.

Well if you’re in that boat, I have amazing news for you – it just ain’t so!

I’m going to let you in on the biggest little secret in holistic weight loss – the missing piece in the equation just might be your mind.

What does this mean? You might be thinking.

I’m going to explain it.

I could source some quantum physics research, but I think I’ll keep it a little more simple for the purposes of this article.

I’m sure you’ve heard of the Law of Attraction – what you put out is what you get. Well this law, quantum physics, and yogic philosophy are all saying the same thing.

We are made up of energy.

At the most fundamental level, we are made up of vibrating energy particles. The rate of vibration determines whether something manifests as a solid, liquid, gas, etc.

And contrary to popular belief, our thoughts are a form of energy too. If you don’t believe me, check out this YouTube video.

And guess what – our thoughts actually create our reality.

Yup. Super true.

Thoughts create emotions, which affect our energy field, which create our physical reality.

I know it might be hard to grasp if you’ve never entertained this way of thinking before. But that’s the beauty of it – once we open up to new ways of thinking, so many possibilities open up to us.

An example of how this relates to your body – if you are constantly looking in the mirror and thinking negative thoughts, such as how your thighs are too fat, or your tummy too soft, then that’s what you’re gonna get!

You are sending those messages to your body, and it’s going to respond in the like.

However, if you send out loving thoughts, looking in the mirror, and believing you are absolutely perfect just the way you are, that is what will manifest for you!

That is why I believe the first step if you want to lose weight is to completely accept and love yourself exactly as you are RIGHT NOW.

Time is an illusion anyway– right now is all that there is (more on this in future posts, I hope I’m not completely blowing your mind right now :p).

And if you think your thighs are too fat, please do me a favor – look in the mirror, look at your thighs, and tell them they’re beautiful. Thank them for being strong and healthy, for letting you walk around, drive a car, pick things up, bend down, etc. You couldn’t do most of the things you do without them!

The same goes for other body parts as well. Please send love and gratitude to every single inch of yourself.

And this is not just limited to our bodies – please send love and gratitude to yourself for who you are completely. Even your flaws, because those are attributes that are allowing you to grow, learn, and improve.

If everyone were perfect, life would be SO BORING! And what is perfect anyway? It’s a matter of opinion.

Once you see through new eyes, everything can be perfect, even your flaws.

So ladies (and gents), please take a moment now if you haven’t done so already, and tell yourself how fabulous you are. And don’t just say it – believe it! Because you are.

And the next time you feel a negative thought creeping up, bring your awareness back and replace the negativity with gratitude and love.

You might find it hard to do in the beginning, but the more you practice doing this, the easier it will become.
